Statins Do Not Benefit Patients With Lung Cancer

Cholesterol-lowering drugs used alongside chemotherapy have no effect on treatment outcomes for lung cancer patients, according to a new study (J Clin Oncol 2017 Feb 27. [Epub ahead of print], PMID: 28240967).

The research team from Imperial College London said the new evidence is so compelling that existing or new planned trials into the use of statins in cancer treatment should be reconsidered.
