Statins May Be Ineffective at Preventing Colorectal Cancer

Although the risk for colorectal cancer was lower in statin users versus nonusers, no difference was observed among those who continued versus discontinued statin therapy, suggesting the potential for indication bias, according to the results of a recent study. As a result of their findings, the investigators suggested that physicians should not give patients statins for the sole purpose of preventing colorectal cancer.
