Study Finds ‘Hot Spots’ For Liver Cancer

Income, race linked to greater risk for advanced disease

By using a series of geographic analytical tools, a California research team has found hot spots of late-stage liver cancer disproportionately consisting of low-income minorities and immigrants.

The investigators said they hope to use these data to implement early detection interventions in these areas, which they say may ultimately prove to be an efficient strategy to better control cancer.
