Noninvasive cell-free DNA (cfDNA) blood tests are showing the potential to detect cancers years before conventional diagnostic methods.
One such test, called PanSeer (Singlera Genomics), uses targeted methylation sequencing of selected CpG sites found in cfDNA. The assay was able to detect five types of cancer up to four years before conventional diagnosis, according to preliminary results from a study recently published in Nature Communications (2020;11[3475]).
