Genetic Testing Guidelines for Breast Cancer Need Overhaul

Current Guidelines Exclude Some Patients Who Could Benefit; Economic Barriers Persist

ORLANDO, FLA.—Current genetic testing guidelines, which were established nearly 20 years ago, exclude many patients who harbor high-risk mutations and would benefit from such testing, according to two studies comparing populations of people who did and did not meet guideline criteria for genetic testing.
