New Guidelines Issued for Clostridium difficile

A panel of experts representing several medical specialties has issued new guidelines for diagnosing, managing and treating Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) in adults. The guidelines, which were published in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology (2010;31:431-455, PMID: 20307191), update recommendations published more than 15 years ago when CDI incidence was much lower than it is today, the strains less virulent, and the decreased effectiveness of metronidazole was not yet known. read more
